What does the in-game content warning cover?
LadiesGamers reports that the warning appears in the main menu and again when you start a new game. Its review lists suicide, arachnophobia, violence and bullying, stress and burnout, a side character's death, panic attacks and optional sexual content.
The same review says these themes are handled with care. It compares the emotional tone to Spiritfarer rather than to a horror game.
How are violence and romance shown?
According to the ESRB summary, emotion creatures inside Heart Palaces can attack Lunne. The screen fades to black when she respawns. Romance is shown through still images of kissing and caressing, and some text is suggestive.
Romance is optional and tied to Estelle, the only romance option named in the publisher FAQ. Players who want to avoid that content can focus on friendships instead.
Quick checklist before a younger player starts
Read the warning screen together on the first launch. Decide in advance how optional romance will be handled. The game is single-player, so there is no online chat to supervise.
