The current developer estimate
The October 8 buying announcement gives a 20–25+ hour full-playthrough estimate. The October 13 developer AMA repeats that range with the same dependence on reading speed and playstyle. These matching recent statements are the basis for the answer at the top of this page.
Read the plus sign correctly
The published range includes a plus sign rather than a fixed upper limit. It describes an estimate for the full adventure and acknowledges variation between players. This guide therefore does not present 25 hours as a guaranteed deadline or an exact amount of required play.
Why older estimates are not averaged
The research also records older figures of 25–30+ hours in the pinned FAQ and 15 hours on the developer homepage. Those statements differ from the newer matching October estimate. Averaging all three would create a new number that the developers did not publish, so that calculation is not used.
Demo time is a separate measurement
The collected PC Gamer preview discusses a roughly one-to-two-hour first-chapter demo. That is a different scope from the full game addressed by the developer estimate. Neither a demo session nor the runtime of a demo video establishes how long the complete adventure takes.
Story time and completion goals
The material does not provide a separately measured completionist estimate. Achievement objectives and optional activity targets describe things to complete, but they do not supply a verified time for doing so. Keep those checklists separate from the developer's broad full-playthrough range.
